New Honda CBR300R on sale in August at £4299

Honda CBR300R - pocket rocket?

Honda announced a new Honda CBR300R at last year's Milan Show, but it's only now that the firm has revealed it will cost £4299 (with ABS as standard) and go on sale in August!

Slotting nicely into Honda’s CBR range between the 125R and 500R, and providing some firm competition to Kawasaki’s Ninja 300, the Honda CBR300R will be available in three different colours; Millennium Red, HRC Tri-colour (as seen in the picture above) and Metallic Black.

The new sporty lightweight will be available to order from Monday 4th August and are on track to arrive at dealerships mid-late August.

The CBR300R is a direct replacement to the more learner-friendly CBR250R allowing Honda to target former riders and the more experienced commuters. It will use the same 4-stroke, single cylinder, liquid cooled motor from the 250 but a longer stroke increases displacement to 286cc which in turn offers 30.4bhp, an increase of a whopping 4.4bhp from the 250.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a direct competitor and although it comes equipped with a 296cc engine providing 39bhp, it is priced at £500 more than the Honda, at £4,799. An ABS version of the Ninja is available at £5,199 and that is only £100 less than the Honda version’s older brother, the CBR500R, which is also A2 licence compliant.

The smaller capacity sports-bike market is hotting up with rumours that Yamaha will introduce their 300cc equivalent, the YZF-R3, to the European market.
