Davies took his first ever pole

Chaz Davies put an end to Kawasaki’s World Superbike qualifying dominance by storming to his first ever pole position in Laguna Seca.

It was very much a Ducati affair, with Davies’ teammate Giugliano taking second place despite a coming together with Voltcom Crescent Suzuki’s Alex Lowes.

Jordi Torres sprung a surprise to complete the front row on his Red Devils Aprilia, ahead of usually dominant Kawasakis of Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea.

Haslam completes the second row ahead of Niccolo Canepa on the Althea Ducati ahead of a furious Alex Lowes, who was knocked off the track by Giugliano at the first turn.

Giuntoli and Camier complete the top ten ahead of Salom and Badovini.
