Anstey topped opening night with a 127mph lap

After Saturday’s sessions were rained off, riders, fans and organisers alike were pleased to see the sun shining ahead of the first TT practice sessions last night. New Zealander, Bruce Anstey set the fastest lap on the opening night of 127.473 ahead of John McGuinness and Gary Johnson in the Superbike class. The Dunlop brothers, William and Michael rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth respectively. The evening’s fastest newcomer was Louth’s Peter Hickman, who set an impressive 115mph lap in his first ever TT session.

Michael Dunlop took the BMW HP4 to the top of the tables in the Superstock class, with a 123.239mph average speed ahead of his brother, William and David Johnson while it was  Triumph on top in the 600 class, with Gary Johnson setting a fastest lap of 122.619mph ahead of John McGuinness on the Padgetts Honda and Lee Johnston.
