Jerez Test: Kallio and Miller on top

Posted: 21 Feb 2014

The second official pre-season Moto2/3 test came to a conclusion yesterday at Jerez and despite some iffy weather, riders managed to enjoy most of the three days on track.

Kallio topped the Moto2 vouchers

In Moto2, once again it was MarcVDS on top, this time with Mika Kallio who posted a time of 1’42.169 late on Thursday to go 0.064 faster than team mate Esteve ‘Tito’ Rabat.

Thomas Luthi set the third fastest time, just eight hundredths from Kallio’s fastest time. Japan’s Takaaki Nakagami was fourth with Alex De Angelis setting the fifth fastest time, over half a second from the front.

2012 Moto3 Champion Sandro Cortese set the sixth fastest time followed by reigning World Supersport Champion, Sam Lowes in an impressive seventh. Fausto Gresini’s pairing of Lorenzo Baldassarri and Xavier Simeon set the eighth and ninth fastest times respectively with Forward Racing’s Simone Corsi rounding out the top ten.

Maverick Vinales, who had shown considerable speed in the first few days of the test suffered a huge crash towards the end of the second day while Britain’s Gino Rea was absent from the test after injuring his foot in Valencia last week.
