Limited edition ‘Artist Series’ Indian FTR 1200 tanks

You’ll either love or hate these limited-edition ‘Artist Series’ Indian FTR 1200 fuel tank covers, revealed this week as a collaboration between the firm and five renowned artists.

Launched at the Wheels & Waves event in Biarritz, Indian will be selling 100 of each of the five designs, allowing FTR 1200 owners to – in the firm’s own words – “instantly transform their bike into a piece of mobile fine art, while also increasing their personal connection to the FTR 1200.”

Of course, the alternate view is that the tank designs are garish messes based on tired motorcycling tropes – skulls, bones and eagles – but then again, nobody is forcing anyone to buy one.

The artists involved are Steve Caballerao, D*Face (Dean Stockton), Adam Turman, ThankYouX (Ryan Wilson) and RISK.

Reid Wilson, Senior Director of Marketing and Product for Indian Motorcycles, said: “Art and motorcycles share a common thread of self-expression, and for motorcycles, customisation is where self-expression truly comes to life. The FTR 1200 and its diverse accessory collections, were purposefully designed to enable a rider’s desire for self-expression, and the Artist Series serves that same purpose in a highly artistic fashion.”
