Jorge Lorenzo’s hopes of winning a third MotoGP world title this year could have suffered a major blow with reports suggesting he’s sustained a shoulder injury just a week before the Japanese Grand Prix.
According to Spanish media, Lorenzo has ‘sprained’ his shoulder in a training accident before flying out to Japan for the first of three back-to-back flyaway races.
Currently trailing Valentino Rossi by 14 points, the injury could pose a major threat to Lorenzo’s title aspirations, especially considering the physical intensity of competing in three Grand Prix races back-to-back.
There has been no official statement from either Lorenzo or his Movistar Yamaha team.
