BSB 2019 | Oulton Park - Round 9 Preview and TV Guide

By Steve Lamb

Production Manager - Still considers himself a novice rider, despite passing his test over twenty years ago. Steve has only ever owned four bikes - a '95 Suzuki GSX600F (which he dropped in the first minute of ownership), an '04 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer and currently a '16 Ducati Scrambler Classic, as well as (very slowly) building a '94 Yamaha SR125 'brat tracker'.

Bennetts British Superbikes is back this weekend, with a trip to the Oulton Park in Cheshire. It's been three weeks since the last round at Cadwell Park, so here's a quick reminder of what happened:

Bennetts British Superbike

In race one, Kawasaki's Danny Buchan secured his second win of the season with a one-second lead over Ducati's Josh Brookes. Oxford Racing Ducati's Tommy Bridwell completed the podium to secure his ninth podium place of the season. Can he go one better next time out and get that elusive win?

Race one's fastest lap went to Tommy Bridewell at 1'26.922

Race two was mired with early controversy as Be Wiser Ducati's Scott Redding and Honda Racing's Andrew Irwin came together on the opening lap. With both riders out of the race, Redding's teammate Josh Brookes was fighting tooth-and-nail at the front with Oxford Racing's Tommy Bridewell. At the line it was Brookes from Bridewell, but only by the narrowest of margins – less than half a second. Buchan crossed the line in third to round off a successful weekend for the Kawasaki team.

Race two fastest lap was again Bridewell – 1'26.581

Dickies British Supersport

As a result of the rain on Saturday, BSS was limited to a single sprint race and provided championship leaders and teammates Jack Kennedy and Brad Jones to continue their rivalry at the front of the field. The spoils went to Kennedy this week with a lead of over six-seconds over Jones. Kyle Ryde and Mason Law crossed the line next in the GP2* championship, ahead of BSS third place rider, Alastair Seeley.

Fastest Race Lap – Jack Kennedy, Lap 4 – 1:28.763

*Designated British GP2, it allows for current Honda-powered Moto2 machinery that has been used in World or European Championship competition as well as new, independent constructor projects utilising any 600cc four cylinder or 675cc three-cylinder engines to a technical specification very similar to Stock 600.
