BSB Silverstone - Race 2 Results

Josh Brookes takes dramatic race two victory and secures his all important place in the Showdown. 

The 2015 British Superbike champion took the lead on lap six and successfully fought off a hard charging James Ellison who started 25th on the grid. 

Pole man Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne took the final step on the podium, with Sylvain Guintoli recording his best finish of the season in fourth.

Brookes said: “It’s fantastic for the championship and the team. It was a pretty strange race, but I felt comfortable out front.”

“I went for the softer tyre option in that race and it was fine to the end. I’ll definitely be sticking with that and it should put us in a strong position for the race later today.” 

An action packed opening lap saw Taylor Mackenzie, Dan Linfoot and Lee Jackson all crash out at Becketts corner, with Leon Haslam and Glenn Irwin also crashing out on lap three.

Jason O’Halloran (fifth) fended off Brad Ray on his Buildbase Suzuki to keep his Showdown aspirations alive with Christian, Peter Hickman, Jake Dixon and John Hopkins rounding out the top ten.  

Despite crashing out of the race Haslam has confirmed his place in the Showdown along with Hickman.
