BSB Thruxton - Race 2 Results

Peter Hickman takes race two at Thruxton and moves third in the championship.

Race one winner Josh Brookes looked set to take the double until the Australian crashed out on the penultimate lap, leaving Hickman to secure his first race victory of the season with Jake Dixon (second) and Leon Haslam (third).

Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon improved on his race one finish with a great fourth place, followed by Jason O’Halloran (fifth) and Martin Jessopp (sixth).

Lee Jackon finished seventh to cap off a fantastic weekend for the Smiths Racing BMW team, with Sylvain Guintoli, Glenn Irwin and James Ellison closing out the top ten. 

Championship leader Shane Byrne retired at half race distance with rear tyre issues. 

Hickman said after the race: “The guys at Smiths Racing set the bike up so well. I know I’ve then got to go out and ride it, but it makes my life so much easier.”

“To get the teams first front row start and now to secure their first race win is mega. They put so much into their racing and it’s nice to give them this back.”  

The paddock now moves onto Cadwell Park in two weeks’ time, 18th-20th August.
