Melandri victorious at the last hurdle
Marco Melandri took his debut World Superbike Championship victory in his third race after passing Jakub Smrz in the ultimate stages of the race at Donington Park. 

A disappointed Jakub Smrz was left with second position after leading for 17 of the 23 laps, while Carlos Checa took third position overall.

Carlos Checa excelled himself at Donington Park today by capitalising on his strong starting position to claim his third win out of four races.

Meanwhile, the battle for second between Leon Haslam, Leon Camier and Marco Melandri ended with Melandri being victorious – leaving Camier to claim the final podium.
