Cal Crutchlow will remain with Ducati Corse in MotoGP for 2015 despite much speculation that the Isle of Man-based rider would exercise an early-exit option to quit his two-year deal one year in.
The announcement comes at Ducati’s annual World Ducati week festival taking place this weekend. This morning it was confirmed that Andrea Dovizioso would remain with the team for another two years.
The move by both riders shows huge faith in Ducati and the completely re-designed ‘Gigi Dall’Igna’ Desmosedici GP15 expected to be rolled out next season.
Crutchlow had been linked with various other MotoGP teams after enduring a difficult start to the 2014 season, scoring just twenty-eight points out of the nine races so far but says he is keen to get out on the GP15 and get back towards the front.
Andrea Iannone will also stay with Ducati in the Pramac squad, reportedly running in Ducati red for the 2015 season once again with equal machinery to Crutchlow and Dovizioso.
With all three Ducati riders staying put for 2015, it’s likely Aleix Espargaro will join Maverick Vinales at Suzuki for the Japanese marque’s 2015 return.
