**News latest update: Yamaha's Japanese test rider, Katsuyuki Nakasuga will replace Spies for the final round of MotoGP at Valencia. Nagasuga already took the Yamaha tosixth place at Valencia last year while covering for an injured Jorge Lorenzo. News update ends**

Yamaha MotoGP star Ben Spies looks like his career with Yamaha is over after the star underwent an operation to repair ligament damage on his shoulder following a crash at the Malaysia MotoGP.

With an estimated 10-12 weeks until the American is out of a sling, it’s unlikely we’ll see Spies back on a Yamaha MotoGP bike as he’s already signed to ride for Ducati in MotoGP next year.

Yamaha Racing will make a decision on a rider for the last round of MotoGP at Valencia MotoGP after this weekend’s race at Phillip Island.
