Team Classic Suzuki team mates Michael Dunlop and Connor Cummins took charge of the Formula 1 Classic TT in last night’s qualifying session. Dunlop improving his 120mph from yesterday to a stunning 122.837 in his opening lap. Cummins improved his fastest lap of the weekend to an equally impressive 119.396mph, suggesting Monday’s race could well be a duel between the pair. It may not just be a two horse race though, as Kawasaki’s Jamie Coward posted a 116.30mph lap and Paul Owen wasn’t far back either (113.936).
In the Bennetts 500cc Class, Ian Lougher set the paceon the Royal Enfield Seeley with a lap of 106.484mp, although William Dunlop had been on the way to a 116mph lap until he dropped back on the mountain section to cruise over the line with a lap just over 100mph.
TT legend, John McGuinness didn’t go out in the session due to an electrical fault on his Paton while team-mate Olie Linsdell consolidated his position as one of the pre-race favourites with a lap of 109.438. Bruce Anstey continued to show he’ll be a race contender, putting in a lap of 107.277 on his Norton ahead of Alan Oversby (105.981) on the Davies Motorsport Honda.
In the Formula 2, Phil McGurk finished ahead of Chris Farmer with both posting 109mph laps. Dean Harrison on the Porter Racing BSA was fastest in the Formula Classic class with a 104.071.
Chris Palmer was the only rider over 100mph in the 350cc class, ahead of Northern Ireland’s Jamie Hamilton (98.868) while Ewan Hamilton topped the 250cc leaderboard with 95.441mph.
