It’s the time of year when BSB riders are scratching around trying to earn a living and secure the best possible rides for next year, while teams are trying to get the best riders they can as cheaply as possible. So it’s no surprise when you can pretty much link any team to any rider right now. But, here’s the latest gossip we’re hearing from inside the BSB paddock:
Michael Laverty may get the chop from Samsung Honda due to inconsistent performance – the Honda management is apparently disappointed. His replacement could be Alex Lowes, but it’s also believed that Tommy Hill has had discussions with them. Swan Yamaha boss Shaun Muir has said he doesn’t know whether he’ll be able to run the team again next year as Swan have not yet committed to further sponsorship.
More and more rumours suggest that BSB will take on a much more international direction. If WSBK rules, regulations and specs are changed by Dorna to be similar to MotoGP (as far as that is possible), and with BSB now using Assen for one of its meetings, it could well be that BSB will be starting to steal the thunder from WSBK. More than16 nationalities were represented at the last round of BSB at Brands Hatch.
