Yamaha have added a third model to their MT range, the baby brother to the MT-07 and MT-09, the A1 licence friendly MT-125.
The new lower capacity bike uses a 14.6bhp (or 11kw) 125cc single cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve, 4-stroke SOHC motor last seen in the latest edition of their YZF-125, and will be available in the UK from this July.
The new bike follows in the style footsteps of the MT-07 and MT-09 with its aggressive naked/street looks and also offers a sporty yet upright riding position which is slightly lower than the YZF-125. The similarities through the MT range don't end there; if the bike was heading for you then the angular front LED headlight and narrow profile could have you easily confused with the 07 or even the 09.
A more streamline fuel tank with a capacity of 11.6 litres is actually 2 litres smaller than the YZF yet the MT weighs the same at 138kg (wet weight). It's 14.6bhp should be good for speeds up to and above the national speed limit while the LCD instrumentation is also similar the 07 and 09 with displays including a shift light and rpm graphic.
Available in Matt Grey, Matt Red and Race Blu.
Yamaha are always pretty abstract with the marketing videos, so here's another for your delectation:
