Yamaha have launched the ‘Tricity’, a 3-wheeled 125cc scooter with a retail price of under €4,000. The scooter will be available from the Summer.
News about Yamaha’s A2 compliant, single cylinder, 4-stroke broke at EICMA in Milan last November and the Japanese firm are under no illusion about their target audience by promising to offer a practical, affordable and enjoyable alternative for the thousands of commuters all over Europe who spend a great deal of time and money getting to and from their place of work.
Churning out 8.1 kW @ 9,000 rpm (or 11bhp in old money), the 3-wheeler leans like the Piaggio MP3, with its telescopic fork front suspension and LMW (Leaning Multi Wheel ) design.
She weighs in at 152kg, has a tank capacity of 6.6 litres and is available in four colours: Midnight Black, Competition White, Mistral Grey, Anodized Red.
Bike Social will report back with a full review when we get to ride the Tricity but for now here is a nice video from Yamaha. And just to clarify, the voice over man actually pronounces it ‘tree-city’:
