Hot on the heels of the MT-125 press launch last week comes the 5th Yamaha MT model in under a year since it was first unveiled; please welcome the MT-09 Street Tracker, available in the UK from late August.
Based on the awesome triple cylinder MT-09, Yamaha and their marketing focus on the ‘Dark Side of Japan’ have given the original model a dirt tracker/scrambler makeover.
A matt finish to the frame and bodywork, carbon front fairing and aluminium number plates offer a dirt-bike image with the aluminium handlebar tensioners offering a touch of ‘track’.
Meanwhile, a two-tone brown and black seat, matt grey a fuel tank with knee grips as well as wider foot rests are all new features. Dark bronze wheels, gold-coloured upside down forks, matt balck engine casing with a bronze-coloured cylinder head all fit into the dynamic new look of Yamaha’s latest MT.
As an accessory, Akrapovic offer a high-level muffler while Yamaha says the bike has “sporty and sophisticated looks with a touch of vintage style”.
The MT-09 is priced sensibly at around £6,800, weighs 188kg (wet) and provides 115bhp from its 847cc three-cylinder motor. Expect much of the same from its grungier mate, the Street Tracker.
