When you heard Ducati were releasing a super-light (superleggera) version of the stunning 1199 Panigale Superbike with what Ducati claim to be the highest power-to-weight ratio ever seen from a production motorcycle, you instantly wanted one, right?
Tough. You can’t have one. That is, you can’t have one unless you’re the esteemed list of Ducati customers who recently received an invitation to purchase the ultimate 1199.
Rumoured to weigh just 180kgs and produce a sensational 220bhp, the 1199 Superleggera, or “Project 1201” as Ducati have coined it has had numerous parts replaced with variations made using ultra-light materials like magnesium, carbon fibre and titanium.
Ducati will only produce 500 of the super-exclusive Panigales, which will be unveiled early next month at the Milan Motorcycle show (EICMA). All Ducati have so far released to the public is this teaser video.
