Championship: MotoGP
Rider of the weekend: Casey Stoner
Casey Stoner really showed why he was leading the MotoGP when he raced at Indianapolis – qualifying on pole position with an unrivalled time of 1.38.850. During the race, he showed no sign of slowing and beat Jorge Lorenzo’s previous lap record set in 2009 by running a 1.39.807.
He led the race and finished nearly five seconds in front of Pedrosa and over ten seconds ahead of Spies who finished in third. It won’t be long until the joke about him checking in for his flight home before the rest have finished will be true! He makes riding the Honda look effortless and to top it all off, his wife is expecting a baby!
