Each week we scan through the best, the strangest and the greatest bargains for sale on Bennetts Free Classifieds. This week it’s a low mileage Ducati Monster for a cool £2,300.
Ducati’s original Monster series spawned a whole generation of naked air-cooled bikes from the Bologna factory and this M600 is a classic example of an entry level Monster. The 90-degree V-Twin engine is not a powerhouse but delivers smiles and thrills with torque that is ample to punch the bike to an easy 70mph cruising speed. Although servicing is straightforward, attention must be paid to the service record to ensure total reliability. The ride is firm and steering can be light over bumps – changing the handlebar to a slightly higher version helps and makes the M600 more comfortable over distance. Obviously the M600 is not a bike for serious sports riders, but as a first middleweight bike the M600 is a joy – it is also a looker and sounds just as ‘boombastic’ as its larger capacity brothers/sisters.
