Bruce Anstey topped this evening’s second Isle of Man TT practice session, the first timed session of the week, with a fastest lap of 128.641mph.
John McGuinness clocked the second fastest run with a 128.596mph to get his TT off to a strong start ahead of Ian Hutchinson in third with an average speed 128.300mph.
Fans’ favourite Guy Martin clocked a lap of 127.453mph on his Tyco BMW S1000RR Superbike with Michael Rutter completing the top five on his Bathams Penz13.com BMW.
Aussie Dave Johnson led the Superstock class with a 125.182mph lap, ahead of veterans Rutter and McGuinness. Guy Martin once again put in a good showing with a lap of 124.625.
In Supersport, Anstey was again at the top with an impressive 125.218mph lap, ahead of Smiths Triumph’s Guy Martin with 123.082mph and Mar-Train Yamaha’s Gaz Johnson.
The night didn’t go to plan for Michael Dunlop, who was well off the pace on the Milwaukee Yamaha superbike. The Ballymoney man set a fastest lap of just 124.519mph on the YZF-R1 before switching to his stock bike, which was then pictured smoking at Greeba Castle before he could complete the lap.
