Which would win?

We get some weird and wonderful questions directed at us on social media. One chap decided to ask whether a Superstock trim CBR 1000 RR could beat a Victory Hammer S in a half mile drag race.

Here goes…

YOU ASK…

Can a Superstock 1000 CBR beat a stock 1731cc Victory Hammer S in a half mile drag race?

WE ANSWER…

Can a slug cover 100 metres quicker than a cheetah? Yes, if the cheetah is unfortunately dead. Anything is possible within reason.

In standard trim, it’s doubtful. Even though the Victory produces more driving force torque at lower revs, changing the gearing on a Superstock 1000 will sacrifice top end speed for rapid acceleration. You’ve gotta remember the CBR is a race bike and getting off the line quicker than the other loons around you is paramount, so practice, gearing and upper rpm horsepower will deal with anything the Victory has to offer after, say, 50 metres.

Could make a cool video though…
