When does a motorcycle become a classic?

Vintage, Classic or even Definitive. There is no real definition of the word classic in relation to motorbikes. Bennetts covers a large number of biking brands and types of bikes. Triumph, Norton, Vincent or Royal Enfield are just some of the vintage brands we cover, whilst ex-military, older racing models and vintage bikes are also applicable to the classic insurance product. Your bike has an intrinsic value, excels in design excellence, styling and individualism and your low mileage goes hand in hand with carefully garaging it.

FAQs

How old does a bike need to be to qualify as a classic?

This can vary depending on the type of bike as Bennetts also cover modern classics, however broadly speaking older bikes need to be at least 15 years old.

Can I insure my sidecar?

Yes. If you insure your bike with us, your sidecar is covered too. If you tow a caravan or trailer, they'll also be covered, as long as they were built to be towed by a bike and are attached to your bike in a standard way.

What level of cover do I need for my classic bike?

The level of cover you choose for your classic bike depends on the level of cover that best suits your needs. We offer Third Party Only, Third Party Fire and Theft and Fully Comprehensive insurance.

Do I need classic bike insurance if I don't ride the bike?

Yes. Unless you have declared your bike SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification), you will need to have insurance for it.
