Bennetts British Superbikes is back this weekend, with a trip over the channel to the Cathedral of Speed, the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands.
There was all to play for last time out at Oulton park with the last few Showdown places to be decided over the scheduled three races.
In race one, Buildbase Suzuki's Bradley Ray was showing the kind of form that made him such a sensation last year, with a season best second position, sandwiched between the Be Wiser Ducatis of Josh Brookes in first and Scott Redding in third. With Danny Buchan in fourth and Christian Iddon in fifth, Tommy Bridewell's weekend was not going his way with a Lap 6 finish to his race, despite setting fastest lap of the race.
Race one's fastest lap - Tommy Bridewell at 1'34.295
Race two was more of the same of Redding and Brookes taking the first two places, with Bridewell earning a well-deserved third place to make up for his DNF in Race one. Ray took fourth ahead o Buchan, O'Halloran and Iddon.
Race two fastest lap went to Bradley Ray – 1'34.342
In the final race of the weekend, Tommy Bridewell took his first win of the season after a slight change of tactics and the early departure of Josh Brookes. Bradley Ray was on the podium again with a solid second place ahead of Scott Redding on the second Ducati. Danny Buchan took another fourth place, ahead of Glenn Irwin, O'Halloran and Mackenzie.
Race three fastest lap went to Tommy Bridewell at 1'33.941
As we enter the showdown stage, here are the all-important championship tables.
For a full explanation of the showdown rules, click the following link: showdown rules, but put simply, to keep the championship alive right to the final round, the top six riders at the showdown date are given 500 points plus bonus points for podium finishes during the season. This closes any massive gaps between the leader and the chasing pack, but also rewards the rider's performance during the season.
