Guy Martin says the North West 200 is boring'

Guy Martin has slammed the North West 200 circuit, claiming the amount of chicanes make it ‘boring’.

In recent years a number of chicanes have been added to the 8.970-mile course to slow riders down, although they're still reaching speeds in excess of 200mph on the longest straights.

These stop-start style corners have come under fire from the riders who enjoy the high speed-thrill of racing on the roads.

‘Bored to the back teeth”, said Martin during today’s superstock qualifying session. “Chicanes, it’s just chicanes. I’ve just done five laps and I’m bored to my back teeth. I’ve got no interest. This track was mega but I was just riding around and it’s like flat out, chicane, flat out, chicane."

Martin qualified 8th for this evening’s first Superstock race.
