With Christmas now less than a month away the Christmas shopping season has well and truly begun. Cue incessant pondering about what to get loved ones whom respond with little more than a mumble of “I don’t know” when asked what gifts they’d like.
If your loved ones happen to be interested in bikes, you’re in luck as there’s a plethora of superb biking gifts available with price tags ranging from large to small, so don't worry - you don't have to buy them that Ducati 1199 Superleggera they're after!
If you’re looking to buy for someone who’s a fan of motorcycle racing, you really are spoilt for choice. A must-have for any racing fan is the 2013 Motocourse Annual. Widely recognised as the leading annual within motorcycle sport, Motocourse wonderfully documents all you need to know about the racing of the last twelve months from both Grand Prix and Superbike championships.
If a book isn’t really your thing, why not check out the Duke Video DVD collection? If you or a loved one is into Grand Prix, the Isle of Man TT or Superbike Racing, Duke are bound to have a number of DVDs you’d want to get your hands on. If you’re interested in a look back, you could take a look at the “Bike Grands Prix of the 1980s” boxset, documenting some of the best races from the eighties in a ten-disc box set. Is there a specific season you’d like to recall? Duke has season reviews from most of the World’s leading motorcycle racing championships in plenty and at reasonable prices too.
Why not treat a racing fan to a print of their favourite rider? There are some truly phenomenal racing photographers out there and most offer prints at competitive prices. Whether you’re after a small photo to frame for a bedside table or a canvas to take prime spot above the fireplace there’s plenty available! If you like a specific photographer it’s best to check out their web pages otherwise, Google is your friend!
If you’re looking at spending a little more, why not consider booking tickets to the British Grand Prix? Silverstone currently have early-bird deals giving you up to £35 off prices closer to the time. With family tickets now available too, why not make it a family day out?
Due to the imminent closure of Mallory Park, Chris Walker has decided to take his race school on tour in 2014. He’ll be holding events at Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park, Knockhill and Bedford Autodrome next year so why not treat a loved one a day’s racing tuition from one of Britain’s finest Superbike racers? Vouchers are available to purchase for 2014 now.
With top motorcycling gear not exactly cheap, any biker would be glad to receive some as a gift this Christmas, although you’ll probably have to drop a few hints if you don’t already know what they’re in need of or what they want, as bikers can be quite particular about the gear they wear.
If you’d rather play it safe, get them something which means they can play with their bike. As boring as it may sound, cleaning kits are always a great biking gift (Muc-Off have some great packages) as bikers take pride in their two-wheeled friends and if your loved ones are anything like us, they’ll enjoy making the bike look nice almost as much as riding it.
