He's as happy tinkering in the workshop as he is on twisty backroads, and loves every bike ever built (except one). He's bought three CBR600s, a KTM 1050 Adventure, Yamaha MT-10, two Ducati Monsters, several winter hacks, three off-roaders, a supermoto pit bike, a Honda Vision 50 and built his own custom XSR700.

BikeSocial’s recent review of the new BMW G 310 GS excited many, but there were a few that weren’t so impressed. “That’s not a proper adventure bike” and “waste of money” were typical of the minority.

But what is an adventure bike? And more importantly, what is an adventure? To some it might be a ride around the world, but to others it might simply being a trip to a new corner of the UK. Or even simply taking the bike out of their own county.

Nathan Millward has ridden around the world on his Honda CT105 postal bike, he’s toured Iceland on a BMW R1200GS and he runs Land’s End to John o’Groats tours – The Garbage Run – that promise an ‘adventure in your own back yard’. He knows what makes for a real adventure, and he was happy to chat with us over tea and biscuits…

When you’ve watched the video, tell us in the comments below what your next adventure will be – big or small. And if you’re interested in joining Nathan on his next UK adventure, click here
