In 2015 Yamaha not only unveiled an extraordinarily advanced and brand new YZF-R1 which blew us all away with its on-track athleticism and on-road versatility but at the same time, also unshackled by the Japanese manufacturer, was an even more advanced and track-focused version known as the R1M.  Due to its exclusivity the super trick version can only be purchased if you apply via a dedicated website...and reservations are set to close on the limited edition bike on 28 February 2017 at 23:59.

The R1M is as close to a production MotoGP-spec Yamaha as one can buy so if you fancy yourself as the next Track Day version of Valentino Rossi then get your chequebook out with a figure of £19,399 in mind.

The 197bhp 998cc crossplane 4-cylinder engined YZF-R1M is equipped with the most advanced electronic control technologies ever seen on a production Yamaha. From Ohlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) and banking sensitive ABS and traction control to a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) offers controllability over traction, slides, front wheel lift, braking and launches. Its Communication Control Unit with GPS allows riders to look at lap times and other running data on a tablet.

Everyone who purchases the 2017 YZF-R1M are also invited to attend an exclusive two-day Yamaha Racing Experience held in summer 2017 at some of Europe's most famous racetracks. It covers all key aspects of race bike preparation and set up, plus classroom and on-track tuition from current and former racing stars. Colin Edwards was recruited for the 2015 version.
