The all-new PATA Yamaha squad

The all new PATA Yamaha World Superbike squad lifted the covers off their 2016 YZF-R1 livery this afternoon in Barcelona.

Alex Lowes and Sylvain Guintoli were both present alongside team boss Paul Denning for the unveiling at Yamaha’s global press launch.

2016 marks the first time Yamaha will compete in the Superbike World Championship in an official capacity since leaving the series at the end of the 2011 series.

British-owned Crescent Racing will manage the effort with key support from factory Yamaha personnel.

The livery largely resembles the blue and silver colourscheme available on the road going R1 with added sponsor logos including title backer PATA crisps.

With the 2016 season vastly approaching the team heads straight to Portimao for a final European pre-season test before flying out to Australia to complete preparations ahead of the first round at the end of next month.

For Alex Lowes, this week’s Portimao test will present an ideal opportunity to test his bike fitness after damaging his shoulder in a heavy fall during testing at Jerez last last year.
