ZARCO FASTEST FROM LOWES IN JEREZ MOTO2 TEST

Lowes was happy with his new parts

Frenchman Johann Zarco topped the timesheets in this week’s Moto2 test at Jerez ahead of Britain’s Sam Lowes and defending champion Tito Rabat.

Zarco’s fastest lap, set on the final day, was 1’42.121, just 0.044 seconds quicker than Lowes in second place. The Briton’s pace was all the more impressive considering he was testing a selection of new parts with his Speed Up team, including the aluminium swing arm he’d been asking for most of last season.

Axel Pons set the fourth fastest time for the AGR Team ahead of Luis Salom and Sandro Cortese. Jonas Folger was seventh ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri with Alex Rins and Thomas Luthi rounding out the top ten, which was covered by just 0.9 secs.

Moto3 World Champion Alex Marquez continues to gets to grips with Moto2 and the Marc VDS team, he set the sixteenth fastest time just 1.13 seconds off Zarco’s fastest lap.
