Two-times Formula 1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso took to the Motegi circuit aboard Honda’s MotoGP bike this weekend.
Joining Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa at Honda’s annual ‘Thank You’ event to celebrate the end of the season, the McLaren F1 driver took the track on the RC213V alongside Marquez who was driving Honda’s 650bhp NSX GT concept car. The pair swapped helmets following the demonstration.
Marquez and Pedrosa also took the chance to try something for the first time, heading out on track aboard a couple of Freddie Spencer’s NSR500 two strokes. Neither rider had ridden a 500cc GP bike before.
The duo also beat the rest of Honda’s riders, including the HRC Trials team and motocross stars, in the CBR250 Dream Cup with Pedrosa taking the win over his Repsol Honda team mate.
Marquez would get one back on his fellow Spaniard later in the day, with victory in the three lap N-One Exhibition race.
“It’s a nice opportunity to meet the other HRC and Honda riders and have a chance to ride and drive many vehicles,” said Marquez. “Of course this included riding our MotoGP machine, but also the CBR 250, the new Honda NSX and the unbelievable NSR500! It’s been great to spend this time with the Honda family and I look forward to next year! This is the last event of the year for me and Honda, so I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year! Let’s hope 2016 is a good year for all of us."
