The Patons were dominant on Friday

After a week of dire weather conditions, the sun was shining once again for this evening’s Classic TT practice sessions, with riders even warned about ‘glare’ before setting off down Glencrutchery road.

The session would provide once final chance for the 500cc class riders to prepare for tomorrow morning’s Bennetts 500cc Classic TT and it was an all-Italian affair at the front as the ever-dominant Paton took the top three spots with Ryan Farquhar, John McGuinness and 2014 race victor Ian Lougher.

Farquhar’s time of 110.006mph on the Team Winfield Paton placed him comfortably ahead of McGuinness and Lougher, but tomorrow’s race is well and truly wide open.

It was a war of attrition further down the field, with Gary Johnson, Conor Cummins and James Hillier all failing to complete a lap on their 500cc machines.

Dean Harrison continued his strong form aboard the Steelcote Solutions Kawasaki ZXR750 in the Formula 1 class, posting a fastest lap of 122.767mph, just marginally slower than Michael Dunlop’s Thursday time. The Ulsterman himself was second fastest.

Technical gremlins put aside, Bruce Anstey posted his first competitive lap on the YZR500, a 120.845mph putting him third in the evening’s standings.
