Haslam will remain in World Superbikes

Leon Haslam will remain in the World Superbike Championship for 2015 as he signs to ride the new Aprilia RSV4-RR with the Red Devils team.

Rumours had suggested the Derbyshire rider would return to the British Superbike Championship next season but as he told Bike Social in August, his priority was to find a seat on the world stage.

Despite winning the championship with Sylvain Guintoli this year, Aprilia has withdrawn its factory effort from the Superbike World Championship instead opting to focus on MotoGP.

“I’ve had a few difficult years down to various injuries but I’m sure that next year my new team and I will be able to have a great season. To race in a team like that of Andrea Petricca fills me with pride but also responsibility, because I know that next year we need to fight for the positions that count. I believe I have the experience and the ability to be able to do this and above all, I know I can count on a great team and the championship-winning bike.”

Haslam replaces Toni Elias in the Italian team, who in turn heads to Troy Corser’s JR BMW outfit.
