Checa increases his points advantage in Germany 
Carlos Checa has extended his overall points lead to 76 in the World Superbike Championship standings after another superb victory at the Nurburgring. His challenges from Marco Melandri and Noriyuki Haga did little to deter the determined rider, who dominated the first race of the day in Germany. 

Closest points rival Max Biaggi withdrew from the race due to a foot injury he sustained in Friday’s free practice – no doubt to the relief of Checa, who has endured tough challenges from the Italian over the previous rounds.

Weather conditions dampen spirits at the Nurburgring
Englishman Tom Sykes has won race two at today’s German World Superbike Championship round at the Nurburgring.

When the rain began to fall during the 13th lap of the race, many of the series’ frontrunners suffered. When the weather took a turn for the worse a lap later and the race was later stopped and the result declared, it was Sykes who had the top spot. A stunned Sylvain Guintoli and Jakub Smrz completing the podium for race two.
