Victory for Rea at Imola
Jonathan Rea has clinched victory in the first race at the World Superbike Championship round at Imola. The Ulsterman resisted strong challenges from Noriyuki Haga during the second half of the race to take the well-deserved top spot.

Checa stalks championship title
Carlos Checa inched closer to his first World Superbike Championship title, with another superb win at the Imola round of the 2011 series. Just three points now separate the Spaniard from his nearest rival Marco Melandri.

It initially looked like Jonathan Rea would clinch his second race win of the day, until the Ulsterman succumbed to technical issues, dropped back and then retired from contention. It was Noriyuki Haga who took the eventual second place finish, with Brit Leon Camier in third overall.
