Schwantz and Uncini on track

Suzuki ‘officially’ launched their new GSX-RR MotoGP bike this weekend in Motegi in front of the Japanese marque’s home fans. To celebrate the occasion, two former World Champions were on hand to demonstrate the evolution of Suzuki’s Grand Prix machine since they last competed in MotoGP.

Suzuki ambassador Kevin Schwantz was joined by 1982 World Champion Franco Uncini for demonstration laps at the Twin Ring Circuit. Schwantz rode the all-new GSX-RR Grand Prix bike, which he first got a taste of at Austin earlier this season, while Uncini took a spin on Alvaro Bautista’s 2011 GSV-R.

“I started very carefully as we didn’t start from pit-lane and without tyre warmers, but I soon felt the machine was being very stable and I was able to speed-up” said Schwantz. “I understand the bike, it’s a very good machine; and I really enjoyed riding it.”

Suzuki will return to MotoGP next season with Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales aboard the GSX-RR.
