Pedrosa at Motegi
Dani Pedrosa has won this weekend’s MotoGP race at Motegi, Japan – his fourth win in the past five rounds. The Spaniard dominated the latter stages of the 24-lap event after making a pass on early leader Jorge Lorenzo 12 laps in. Pedrosa crossed the line more than four seconds ahead of second placed Lorenzo, reducing the factory Yamaha rider’s championship points advantage to 28 with just three rounds left to play out.

However, Bennetts-supported Cal Crutchlow faced a disappointing end to his hard-fought race as he was forced to retire on the final lap while battling for third place with Gresini Honda’s Alvaro Bautista. British rider Crutchlow had capitalised on Ben Spies’ crash on the second lap, which propelled him into third place, but Spaniard Bautista passed him on lap 20. Crutchlow then experienced difficulties with his Yamaha YZR-M1 and was forced to retire from contention for fourth place.

Andrea Dovizioso was the eventual fourth place finisher, while Casey Stoner finished fifth.
