Champion Stoner reigns in Jerez

Posted: 29 Apr 2012

Current World Champion Casey Stoner has clinched his first superb race win of 2012 at Jerez, Spain today. After a good start, the young Australian managed to pull away from a tough battle between six of the leading riders including Jorge Lorenzo, Bennetts-supported Cal Crutchlow, Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden, who were all desperate to secure an early lead.

Although Lorenzo was hot on his heels throughout the majority of the race, Stoner was the eventual victor – despite also suffering from arm pump in the later stages of the race. Lorenzo finished second, with Pedrosa claiming the third step of the podium. Brit Crutchlow equaled his best finish of fourth.

Ducati rider Nicky Hayden finished eighth, just ahead of team-mate Valentino Rossi in ninth.
