Casey Stoner back to winning ways

Posted: 15 Aug 2011

Casey Stoner – the current 2011 championship leader – triumphed at this weekend’s Czech Republic Grand Prix. The eventful round saw some of Stoner’s fellow championship contenders struggle, including Dani Pedrosa who crashed from the lead, and Jorge Lorenzo who failed to even take a podium place.

Lorenzo took charge in the opening stages, but developed front end problems, which allowed rivals Pedrosa and Stoner to pass him. However, Pedrosa lowsided shortly after on lap three, giving the advantage to Stoner. The Australian now holds a lead of 32 points over nearest rival Lorenzo in the championship standings overall.

Lorenzo continued to struggle during the race – with Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli both passing him in the second half of the race.
