Yamaha’s Michael Sweeney clinched victory in the Junior Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man in dramatic style.

Although James Cowton had led the race from the start, at one point extending his advantage over second-place-man Sweeney to 26 seconds, his margin began to narrow at the Bungalow on the last lap of the race. Cowton was eventually forced to retire at the Nook, after his Honda ran out of fuel.

As a result of this, Michael Russell was promoted from third to second place, while Andy Lawson took third.

Racing continues on Friday 30 August.
