The Bennetts Classic TT kicks off next week

The TT races are one of the few great motor-sporting tests remaining today, with the thirty-eight mile circuit having hardly been altered since the event’s inception in 1911.

From Mike Hailwood’s epic duels with Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read, to the record-breaking rides by Geoff Duke, Mick Grant and Joey Dunlop, the TT simply reverberates with special memories and has been host to some incredible racing moments.

The Isle of Man Classic TT is a chance to turn back the clock to the golden age of motorcycling, providing visitors with a chance of reliving the sights, sounds and smells of classing racing. The four-day event will celebrate the history and heritage of the Isle of Man TT with some of the best road racers on the planet riding a selection of iconic classic motorcycles.

This year’s event takes place over August bank holiday weekend and will form the centrepiece of the new Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling and the Manx Grand Prix.

TT Legend, John McGuinness and Michael Dunlop are set to relive their 2013 TT battles as they go to head-to-head in the opening event of race week on Saturday 24 August. McGuinness will ride the Team Winfield Italian Paton machine, previously taken to numerous race wins by Ryan Farquhar, while Dunlop will board a Norton from the Molnar Manx stable that will run in the colours of his own MD Racing Team.

In total, there are no less than eight out of the first ten starters of the 2013 PokerStarts Senior TT on the entry list, including Cameron Donald, Bruce Anstey, Guy Martin and Gary Johnson.

There will also be appearances from classic racing icons such as Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read and Mick Grant in the Classic TT Lap of Honour, scheduled to take place on Monday 26th August.

The first Classic TT race kicks off on Saturday 24th August with the remainder of the event’s races on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26th. With a whole host of other events such as chat shows, paddock walkabouts, live music and more – the Bennetts Classic TT is the place to be this August bank holiday!
