Byrne denies PBM deal

Shane Byrne has denied recent reports he’ll continue to ride for Paul Bird Kawasaki in British Superbikes, stating there is “no deal done yet”.

It had been looking increasingly likely Bird would be pulling his British Superbike effort next year to focus on his Grand Prix project. However at Silverstone this weekend, numerous news outlets reported Bird had told them he’d be back in 2014 and had signed Byrne and another rider, later announced as Stuart Easton.

Byrne posted on his Twitter account this evening to say: “Quick suggestion, never believe anything you read regarding 2014 unless it’s an official PBM press release or from me, no deal done for me yet.”

Easton on the other hand confirmed via his Twitter channel that he had signed a deal to return to the Kawasaki squad for which he rode in 2012: “Really happy to be returning to BSB with PBM in 2014 but next week is my 100% focus and winning the BSS championship for MARTRAIN Yamaha.”

Byrne is currently leading the championship for Bird's Rapid Solicitors squad by one point ahead of the final round at Brands Hatch in two weeks time.
