Things have started positively for the motorcycle industry in 2014 with January’s registration statistics showing a 13.3% rise in new registrations when compared to the same period last year. Almost all categories of motorcycle saw a strong increase, with the custom category seeing the highest rise, up 39.6% on January 2013.

Adventure Sport bike registrations also saw a big increase this January, with 25.9% more registrations than the same point last year. The only motorcycle category to see a decrease in registrations was the touring category, with a 13.5% decrease on January 2013.

Honda’s PCX125cc scooter was the most-sold bike last month closely followed by the ever-popular CBF125 and Yamaha YZFR125.

Once again, Honda was the most popular with over almost 50% more registrations than any other manufacturer.
