What’s the best first bike?

John Fletcher got in touch with us on Facebook to ask which would be the best first bike out of a Honda CBR600, or a Bandit/Hornet. We put the question to one of our experts and below you’ll find their response.

JOHN ASKS:

First bike… CBR600R or Bandit/Hornet… 2001 onwards?

OUR EXPERT ANSWERS:

That’s a question to which the answer could run and run!

In a nutshell, do you like sports bikes, where power is concentrated more at the top end of the rev range, the bikes are lighter, suspension more tuneable and they’re the spitting image of a race bike? If yes, tick CBR600R.

If you like upright seating, the plastic-free expanse and the ability to see the bike’s engine, tick Bandit or Hornet.

The beautiful thing about motorcycling is it’s all about choice, who where, and what. Our best advice is to look at all the types of bikes you can see on the internet or in brochures/magazines, select a couple that appeal and fit within your remit, and then book test rides.

Something will strike a chord in your heart. Guaranteed.
